A little about me…
Horses are my passion. From an early age my natural sensitivity and empathy drew me into the world of animals and I always had an animal best friend by my side. Over the years my love for horses in particular grew - I just wanted to be with them. I was never bitten by the competition bug, instead I enjoyed quietly riding my ponies and just ‘being with them’. My natural healing abilities and intuition meant that I was more often than not drawn to horses in need, the ‘special’ ones. Although I was not consciously realising it, I was offering these special horses healing even at a young age.
After leaving school and a brief spell in industry I returned to working with horses. After passing a number of BHS exams I worked at various yards and in different disciplines including showing, dressage and eventing. During this period I spent a year in America working with Grand Prix dressage horses but again continued to be drawn towards the horses that needed the extra care and attention.
Over the years, I have been very lucky to have been the guardian to a number of very special horses. In 1990, a young horse named Redski came into my life. I ‘knew’ very early on that despite his breeding and ability his destiny would not be realised. I firmly believe that horses come into our life for a reason; his reason was not to be ridden. It was during the early years of the twenty two years we spent together, when I tried all that I could to keep him sound, that I had my first ‘conscious’ exposure to energetic healing. At that time Redski was stabled at the late Danny Pevsner's yard in Hertfordshire. Danny who trained at the Spanish Riding School was also an Alexander Technique teacher and a Reiki practitioner. It was Danny who first drew attention to my natural healing abilities and Redski who showed me what I had been doing all along without realising it.
Having this realisation I was encouraged to formalise the healing so in 1997 I became a Reiki practitioner. Having been initiated into Reiki I began a daily practice of self-healing and practice with others, including working with animals. I continued this Reiki training to Reiki Level 2 which enables me to offer distance healing to people and all animals.
In 2004, another very special horse came into my life and his name was Percy. As I said I believe horses come into our lives for a reason, his was to heal on all levels – physical, emotional and mental. I consider myself very fortunate to be part of his life during his healing process. I have to say he was one of my greatest teachers and one of the reasons I decided to embark on a three year Shiatsu diploma course in 2011 with the School of Equine Shiatsu, qualifying as an Equine Shiatsu practitioner in 2014.
